Concept and visual identity for the Danish Film Institute youth laboratory – FILM-X.

FILM-X is a concept developed by the Danish Film Institute (DFI).
In only two hours, FILM-X studio gives children and young adults a complete experience of the creative process of filmmaking as well as the magic, special effects, illusions and history inherent in film. FILM-X is a complete film production environment, consisting of four film studios, as well as a sound studio, animation studios, editing stations and a laboratory, all linked by a digital network.

FILM-X was established in 2002 thanks to a generous donation from the Egmont Foundation and the Nordic Film Fund.

The film studio has been highly acclaimed for its graphic design and user-friendly interface design. In 2003 Rasmus Koch Studio was awarded the Danish Design Award in the category "Digital communication / Digital design" for the DFI Cinematheque's FILM-X.

An excerpt from the jury's statement reads:
"The FILM-X project encourages experimentation, playing and make believe. The jury wishes to emphasis and praise this initiative that sets the stage for utilising the digital media by putting it into a larger context where the focus is not on the digital medium itself, but on the entire film production process."
