Poster design for 'Heimat, Moderne – Experimentale 1, Leipzig 2005'. A cultural festival reflecting and prospecting Modernism and its impact on contemporary architecture, urbanism and art in the frame of the merger between East and West Germany.

Leipzig is a perfect example of an East German city where institutions and independent groups work together on projects far more extensively than just short-term festivals. The project 'Heimat Moderne' placed particular emphasis on Leipzig's urban culture. At various events, artists, curators, writers, composers and urban planners discussed the processes of city shrinkage and economic status-symbol projects.

The programme included an exhibition at the Leipzig Gallery for Contemporary Art, a publication examining modern concepts of time, a short-film competition based on the theme of protest culture, an exhibition highlighting the architectural history and a new opera piece by Mela Maierhans, composed especially for Brühl (the house Richard Wagner).

For the many events that comprised 'Heimat Moderne' we designed four posters. We designed two posters for the initial opening event of 'Heimat Moderne im Musikviertel' 5 March – 24 April 2005 (the second of the two posters was a revision). The third poster we produced was for 'Achtung Augustusplatz' 22 April – 9 Juli 2005, and the fourth poster was for 'Brühl/Robotron' 26 August – 11 September 2005.

Format: 600 x 800 mm, offset.
